Custom Non-Traditional Hydraulic Press Frames

How far can Beckwood take press customization? See for yourself. If your application requires a press frame orientation that is outside of traditional press designs, you’ve come to the right place. Our creative and talented engineers thrive in these types of situations. Below are a few examples of custom hydraulic and servo-electric presses with non-traditional frames that we engineered to meet the specific needs of specialized applications.

Why Choose A Custom Press?

A custom press designed specifically for your application and production environment will give you a competitive edge and typically provide a quicker ROI than an off-the-shelf machine that you force your application to fit into. Beyond just meeting your manufacturing needs with unique frame styles, custom-engineered presses can take your capabilities to the next level with improved accuracy, throughput, and safety.  Contact the Beckwood Sales Engineering team today to put our creativity to the test, and allow us to prove what a custom built press can do for your operation.

Our Press Customization Expertise

Beckwood specializes in engineering and building custom presses for every manufacturing challenge. This often means designing solutions that do not fit within a standard configuration in order to meet the unique needs and space requirements of specialized manufacturing facilities. Whether you need a custom press that tilts and swivels for an injection molding application or one with electric actuators for high-precision forming, we are ready for the challenge.

Bring us your challenge, and we’ll crush it.

Custom Press Frame FAQs:

What are the different types of traditional hydraulic press frames?

Traditionally, there are 5 common press frame styles:

  • 2-Post
  • 4-Post
  • Gib Guided / Straight Side
  • C-Frame
  • Benchtop

While these frame styles can accommodate the needs of many applications, some projects call for a more unique configuration. In these cases, our design team will suggest a custom frame style such as a multi-post press, a side-acting press, or even something entirely new.

Our engineers collaborate closely with you to develop the best press design to exceed your application needs, while keeping operator familiarity, ease of maintenance, and machine budget top of mind. When choosing a press configuration for a given project, we consider many key factors including:

  • Tonnage Requirements
  • Primary Application / Use (i.e. stamping, assembly, compression molding, etc.)
  • Force Distribution
  • Ergonomics
  • Throughput / Productivity Requirements
  • Ease of Maintenance
  • Safety features
  • Footprint, height, or floor loading constraints
  • Additional capabilities (i.e. dynamic cushions, heated platens, and more)

Yes. If you have an existing library of tools and dies that you don’t want to rework, our team can design your new custom press for seamless compatibility. If you are planning on bringing new tools online, our Sales Engineering team can suggest standard tooling and press features that will rapidly improve die change-over times and productivity.
