Coining, sometimes referred to as minting, is a stamping process in which a significant amount of force is applied to a closed die containing a workpiece, forcing the metal to conform to the shape of the die. The coining process produces a very fine and detailed surface finish while also work hardening the surface of the part, making it an ideal solution for manufacturing coins, medallions, complex electronic parts, and jewelry.
Beckwood’s coining and minting presses are optimal for applying the necessary force in a small, localized area, resulting in parts with sharp, crisp corners, well-defined features, and flawless surface finishes.
